Dove
Hi all,

I hope those celebrating had a happy Thanksgiving!  I'm very grateful that I was able to celebrate with my extended family, having recovered from a bout of influenza just in time to be around people safely.  The tiredness, however, is lingering so I actually fell asleep whilst working on this.  So I may revisit the first section next time since I intended to offer up a few more.  But for now, I hope everyone reading takes a few moments in the chaos to relax... maybe even borrow some ideas from the list below... and that you take care of yourselves.

God bless,
Jenni

Whose Holiday Prep Is This?

Everyone prepares for Christmas and the other winter holidays a bit differently.  Try to guess which Dyeland story characters' preparations are being described below.  The answers are at the bottom of the page.

1.  Finding a good book or two or three and a nice cup of tea (or bottle of wine).  Getting lost in the book while listening to classical Christmas music.  Occasionally prying their eyes away from their book to gaze fondly at their soul mate dozing across the room.

2.  Making breakfast in bed for their nursing wife and French toast sticks for their four-year-old.  Helping plot out the track list for the Friends' annual Christmas show.  Running to the grocery store and getting spotted by a fan shouting "Look!  It's Hot Jesus!" leading them to discover that there's a contingent of regulars who refer to them as Hot Jesus and the Other Guy as Legit Jesus... little knowing how on target the latter is.

3.  Snuggling up with some buddies and/or family members and an abundance of fleece blankies.  Avoiding the snow and ice while some sucker leaves food at their doorstep.  Multiplying like rabbits.

4.  Overseeing the assembly of a massive Christmas tree while sipping on a steady stream of coffee and tea.  Organizing a party for friends, keeping tabs on five kids, and still making time for dancing with their anam cara who could be returning from work anywhere in the world.

5.  Getting cozy with their wife, in the only home they've ever known, and reading Dickens aloud to her.  Advising on winter festivities for their community and marveling at the fact that their son is soon to turn fifteen on Christmas Eve.

6.  Watching Christmas movies late into the night with their soul sister, distracting their youngest siblings when presents need to be wrapped and hidden, and jotting down notes about goings on amongst family and friends that might one day find their way into a book series.

7.  Downing lots of coffee while baking cookies for their anam cara's shelter and their food truck.  Decorating their house and occasionally getting weepy and nostalgic about their little boy who is now a teenager.  Joyfully singing off-key carols.

8.  Hiding children's Christmas presents in their workshop.  Working on carpentry orders so they're completed in time for Christmas.  Watching soppy Christmas movies in bed with their anam cara while feeling very grateful.

Dyeland Christmas Tree Jigsaw Puzzles

And then I slipped downstairs to take a few photos of the Dyeland Christmas tree to finish this newsletter out... which ended up being a good thing since it made me remember I had laundry in the dryer!  Anyway, see if you can pick out what the various ornaments represent although, full disclosure, some are just mine that didn't really fit anywhere else.

This newsletter is dedicated to John Dye for inspiring my Dyeland tree which I like so much that it's getting an upgrade next year!
