Hi all,

Before I get to the newsletter proper, I just wanted to mention a couple of things.

1.  I will no longer be including quotes at the tops of newsletters.  It's just something that took more time than it should have and I'm not sure added much value.  Plus, I was always paranoid that I'd end up citing someone really awful.

2.  I'm, unfortunately, in the midst of a rough patch with my epilepsy and not quite sure what that will end up looking like.  I really want to start writing "The Advocate" but the brain fog is a real issue.  I'm also behind on responding to emails which I'm sorry for.  I'm trying to find a new doctor since my last one quit practicing so hopefully things will be better soon.

3.  My proofing abilities are not where I'd like them to be so you may see more typos and things like "purple" used in place of "purpose."  (Something that actually happened at work... yay.)

4.  My memory is not great right now.  So if in the weeks going forward I repeat things I've already done (including the list below) then, well, I guess it might be fun to compare and contrast and see how my responses have changed?  :-)

Anyway, I hope you're all doing well!

God bless,
Jenni

Top Ten Jobs I Wish Andrew Had Worked

So because tomorrow is Labor Day here in the U.S., I wanted to consider some jobs I wish Andrew had been given.  Here we go...

10.  Cake baker and decorator.  I dunno.  I just think it woulda been really cute to see Andrew get really into decorating cakes and being really exacting about it.

9.
A Kindergarten or pre-school teacher.  I know Andrew was a teacher in multiple episodes but I woulda loved to have seen him working with really little kids, singing children's songs, reading story books, teaching the alphabet, etc.  It woulda been so cute!

8.  Glassblower.  Okay, no real reason here beyond the fact that I think it's very cool to watch a glassblower work.

7.  Librarian.  Yes, I know there's not a stereotypical librarian look but Andrew looking bookish woulda been really cute.  And I would have loved to have seen more of him talking about literature and helping people find books suited to them, answering questions, etc.

6.  Halloween store employee.  Yes, I'm being mean.  But the comedic opportunities woulda been great.  Plus, there coulda been a scene of him kinda reckoning with how Halloween, like so many things, has both negative and positive aspects.  Like, sure, he might have gotten into arguments with older kids trying to be terrifying.  But I woulda loved to have seen him getting lectured by little kids who just wanted to wear their Disney costumes and eat Gummy Bears.

5.  Park ranger.  Okay, admittedly, I just wanted to see Andrew in jeans and flannel more often and that seems to fit.  But I also really loved when he'd talk about natural beauty.  So an episode of him wandering around a park and talking about trees and wildlife?  Yes, please.

4.  An eating disorder counselor.  Okay, so I don't actually care about whether Andrew filled this role or not.  But I would have liked to have seen TBAA tackle eating disorders... so long as they did so with input from actual professionals.

3.  A debunker... but a nice one.  I'm not talking about the snarky ones.  But, as I've mentioned before, I spent a good chunk of my college years studying the history of Spiritualism.  And I have this image of Andrew debunking a fraudulent medium but then having this beautiful conversation with them and the grieving person about how God is real and Heaven is real.  And it can hurt so, so badly to not be able to talk to those we've loved who have passed on.  But they're still there.  They're still loving us.  And the time will come when we can talk to them again, hug them again... not through trickery... but in ways more real than anything we can imagine.

2.  An author.  I'm not quite sure how that would have worked because when would he have found the time and how would he be publishing?  Would he use a nom de plume?  But, regardless, I would have loved to have seen Andrew writing.  Just the glimpses it woulda given into how his mind works alone woulda been neat.  But then also to see him in cozy clothes, sipping tea, and getting his thoughts out...  I woulda loved it.

1.  A singer.  Any sort of singer.  Broadway.  Pop star.  Wedding singer.  I don't care.  I just would really have liked to have heard his singing voice.  It woulda been fun.

This newsletter is dedicated to John Dye for inspiring me to get through many a long, mindless work day.
