“My
idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is
very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for
Christmas to do that?”
~~ Bob Hope
Hi all,
And the Christmas craziness is definitely ramping up for
me! I hope you're all able to find some quiet time for
yourselves... and maybe enjoy some cookies.
As promised, here's part two of the Dyeland character updates.
God bless,
Jenni
Year-End Dyeland Character Updates,
Part II
Josef, Amber-Marie, and Daisy-
Following their September wedding, Josef and Amber-Marie took a
week-long honeymoon to Disney World... with Daisy. Given the
little girl still has the occasional flashback nightmare, they
didn't feel right leaving her. Afterwards, both adults
settled back into their jobs but are making sure to leave plenty
of time for each other and Daisy. Josef now has FS fully
adjusted to a post-vampire staff. Amber-Marie saw an uptick
in people requesting counseling appointments following the events
of "Broken Hallelujahs" but things have mostly gotten back to
normal now. Daisy is continuing to enjoy her classes Below,
visits to her grandparents (Amber-Marie's mom and dad) in
Poughkeepsie, and playing with Aiyla Al-Mitra every chance she
gets.
Catherine, Vincent, and Jacob- The
Wells family and the wider Tunnel community continue to deal with
the emotional aftermath of Father's/elder Jacob's passing in
August. Since then, Vincent has become the Tunnel
patriarch. Even though Father spent years preparing him for
the role, it's still been quite an adjustment. Thankfully,
Vincent's brother Devin has remained Below to help him out.
Because of his increased duties as the leader of the Tunnel
community, Vincent has relinquished teaching of all classes except
literature. He continues to serve as the Tunnel school's
principal, of sorts, though. Meanwhile, Catherine remains
busy Above with the Phoenix Inn. While she has no plans to
retire yet, she is looking into choosing a protege to take over
eventually so she can focus on life Below. Jacob continues
to miss his grandfather very much and has been channeling his
grief into his paintings. Though the timing of his arrival
was bittersweet, the entire family are finding a respite from
their grief in little Avi.
Logan and Zelda- Like Josef and
Amber-Marie, these two also got married this past September.
They were both too shy to go through a big, formal wedding so they
eloped to Vegas where they were married by Obi Wan Kenobi.
After a honeymoon at Universal Studios, they returned to the home
of Logan's mother, Beverly, where they continue to live in the
basement. Every so often, they mention looking for a house
but since they're quite content there and Beverly enjoys having
them around, it never goes any further than that. Maybe
after they have a kid. Or maybe not.
Salma- Having formally entered the
novitiate with the Sisters of Divine Patience in El-Chanan, she
can now be called Sister Salma. Along with dedicating a
great deal of time to reflection and prayer, Sister Salma is
helping the Friends who recently converted to the El-Chananite
Church learn more about their new church and its history.
Unlike some religious orders on Earth, the Sisters of Divine
Patience place great importance on familial bonds so Salma still
finds plenty of time to spend with her sister, Isra,
brother-in-law, nieces, and nephew.
Edward and Zadie- Little Ada-Marie
and Felix Stanford will soon have another playmate at the Romano
Family Farm! Edward and Zadie are expecting their first
child in February.
Caleb and Lacey- Things could get
really interesting come February... Caleb proposed to Lacey
on her birthday, last April 22nd, and she enthusiastically
accepted. Prior to Zadie discovering she was pregnant, Caleb
and Lacey chose this coming February 16th for their wedding.
So... while Edward fully intends to stand up for his brother at
the wedding, Clay will be there on standby in case Edward and
Zadie are busy welcoming their little one. Regardless, Caleb
and Lacey are very much looking forward to being married AND an
aunt and uncle.
Isolde and Marco- Post-cure, the
Crocettis have been traveling a lot. Though they traveled a
great deal with their FS work, now they're getting to enjoy the
culinary offerings of assorted countries. They also enjoy
simply being at home and among the Friends, though. Even
though they're both several hundred years old, Isolde is
physically still a teenager. But she turns eighteen on
February 13th of the coming year... Since Joshua suggested
the long-married couple wait until Isolde was legally eighteen to
have children, I'm very confident they respected his wishes.
But, if I were a Friend, I wouldn't expect to see them for a good
week or two after Isolde's birthday... outside of Mass, of course.
And I know there were more people I wanted
to include but Grumpy McLeo has been super whiny and needy
today. So if I decide I really need any more updates
posted prior to the Christmas story, I'll just add them after
this during the coming week.
This
newsletter is dedicated to John Dye for contributing to the
delinquency of a thirty six year old. I was supposed to
make 6 dozen Oreo balls today. But instead, I ended up
updating this.
I mean the Oreo balls are partly done... so that's
something.
