“At times, our
own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark
from another person. Each of us has cause to think with
deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame
within us.” ~~Albert
Schweitzer
Hi all,
I hope those of you who celebrated Thanksgiving have recovered
from all the food! I somehow ended up with loads of
sweets as my leftovers so... that's a problem! But a
good one. :-)
I'm maybe an hour from finishing a story that's taken
me forever to finish. So I almost sent some scrapbook
scans but... that didn't feel right. Even though
Thanksgiving is behind us, I guess I'm not ready to move on
just yet. I really wanted to list what the Dyelanders
and Friends are grateful for but, as I deemed that too
spoiler-y, instead you just get me.
God bless,
Jenni
Reasons I'm
Thankful for JABB, Etc.
1. I'm grateful that, all these years later, TBAA
continues to inspire people to come find us! And, of
course, it continues to inspire stories and most of what goes
into a JABB newsletter.
2. I'm thankful that Leo is maybe getting just a tiny,
tiny bit more self-sufficient so I have more time for writing...
sometimes. :-)
3. On that note, I'm grateful that Danika has become such
a low-key, gentle companion who is calmly sitting by me right
now as I write this... as she often does during my writing
sessions.
4. I'm grateful for all the amazing friendships that I've
made via JABB. It seems like every single time I start to
think people have moved on and maybe it's time to close up
shop... someone new shows up and brings new life and
inspiration.
5. I remain so grateful to John Dye who, almost 23 years
after I first glimpsed him on "The One That Got Away," still
makes me want to write about Andrew.
6. I'm thankful that my laptop, despite its myriad issues,
keeps on trucking so I can create these newsletters, send them,
update the web site, and talk with all of you!
7. I'm grateful for Target's Light Egg Nog. It's
basically been fueling the conclusion of my latest story and
will, no doubt, get me through the next one.
8. I'm thankful that I come from a family who values and
encourages creativity... This probably isn't exactly how
they expected me to use mine but oh well!
9. I'm grateful for my recent trip to DC which not only
inspired a story coming in early 2019 but also allowed me to
revisit several TBAA episodes like "Beautiful Dreamer," "Made in
the U.S.A.," "The Compass," "Dear God," and so many others that
touched on history.
10. I'm thankful for whatever impulse or inspiration
compelled me to introduce Joshua into the Dyeland stories.
I'm honestly not sure I could have kept this going without Him
after John passed away.
This newsletter is dedicated to John Dye for inspiring a shy
girl to get online and write some stuff. Without that, I
wouldn't have a JABB to be thankful for.
