"You take away all the other luxuries
in life, and if you can make someone smile and laugh, you have given the most special gift: happiness." ~~Brad Garrett
Hi
all,
This past week, my work place observed Heart Health Week
by engaging in various activities
designed to limit stress, promote good nutrition, and get
moving. We do this every year and, especially since
it coincides with John's birthday, it always makes me
think of him. Heart conditions run in my family and,
sadly, contributed to the death of my beloved Grandpa
Jim. His loss truly made me appreciate John's role
as Andrew. I clung to these words through my
Grandpa's funeral and beyond: "I want you to know
there's nothing... nothing to be afraid of. On one
side, there's life. And on the other...there's life,
too." Those same words meant so much to
me in the aftermath of John's passing. So, in this
annual birthday issue, I thought promoting heart health
would be a fine way to remember and celebrate John.
Regrettably, I can't dish up heart healthy food for you
all but maybe I can do a little something to alleviate
stress and get ya moving. :-)
Before I do that, I just wanted to say a few words in
remembrance of Sir John Hurt who passed away a few days
ago. Beyond having a name that I always felt was an
amusing counterpart to John Dye's, I loved his work in The
Elephant Man, Harry Potter, the Hellboy
movies, and so much more. My first introduction to
Sir John's work was as the Storyteller in the Jim Henson
series. Thus, I always imagined him when I wrote for
the Asterian Storyteller aka Lewellyn and, more than once,
imagined his voice as I read over Dyeland stories.
While JABB will always be extremely indebted to John Dye
for inspiring just about everything on this site, it's
been fun drawing on Sir John Hurt's work to supply some
strands in this big, ol' tapestry of fandom.
God
bless,
Jenni

Photo Scavenger Hunt
Now we'll see about getting some
movement going! My challenge is to take photos of
as many of the following things (all related in some way
or another to a John Dye role) as possible and email
them to me. Winner(s) will receive a prize.
The prize will go to whomever gets photos of the most
items on the list. In the event of a tie, I'll
send prizes to each winner. This will be a
physical prize unless you're not comfortable with that
in which case I'll come up with some virtual
variation. Photos are due to me at either the
email address you received this newsletter from or my
personal one by February 19th, 2017.
If you are homebound but wish to participate, please
contact me and we'll find a workable variation to this
challenge. Have fun and good luck!

6. A Christmas decoration
7. A calendar

This newsletter is dedicated to
John Dye, in observance of his 54th birthday.
While we continue to miss him, we remain grateful for
the years he was with us on this Earth and for all the
comfort, entertainment, and lessons he left through
his work in movies and TV along with his life
off-stage. Personally, I can't imagine how
different my life would be without his
influence. From the friends I have to my hobbies
and my decorative style, none would be the same
without my having first become fascinated with Andrew
and then John's wider career and charitable
endeavors. Being part of the TBAA fandom has
also helped my faith to grow and John's depiction of
Andrew was a huge part of that. There is truly
no way for me to put into words how grateful I am and
I know I am far from alone in that.
Thank you, Mr. Dye, for inspiring so much through your
life and work.
