“Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do,
something to love, and something to hope for.”
~Joseph Addison

Hi all,

Welcome to another Dye Day newsletter!  Happy 47th birthday to John Dye!  I know we all hope he's having a wonderful, blessings-filled birthday!

In honor of the occasion, we've put together this issue which celebrates not just Andrew but many of Mr. Dye's excellent portrayals in film and on TV.  We hope ya have fun with this!

God bless,
Jenni

So...  For those of you who maybe are new or just plain not that observant... I'm more than a little devoted to Andrew (see above, who can blame me?).  It's not that I don't think Doc Hock is an intriguing character.  I've cried for Jeff.  I've laughed at Todd.  But it's just not the same.  They aren't the ones that fourteen year old me one day looked at and thought "Wow..."  That was Andrew.  So I get a lil anxious about these Dye Day issues when I want to highlight characters other than Andrew.  This year was no exception.  So I'd like to thank all our Dye Day chatters for inspiring me to come up with the following idea.  Further, HUGE thanks to Yvette and Nicole for helping me to actually accomplish it!  Without further adieu...

Things We Wish We Could Say to John Dye's Characters

Jenni to Virgil: Hey, did you borrow that tie-dyed shirt from Doc?  Cause it kinda looked better on him..

Jenni to Skip (from
Making the Grade): Stop wearing pink and green.  You look like an Easter basket or a golfer.

Nicole:  I would tell Doc (Tour of Duty) to not go into that last scene with that one Vietnamese chick.

Jenni I have some things to say to Manion (Heart of the Beholder) but I don't think they're printable.

Jenni to Andrew: Fourt...teen... years...  I've been as patient as Penelope.  So make like Odysseus and get over here!  (I'd like to dedicate that one to Nicole who *claims* I make a lot of references to mythology... I have no idea what she's talking about...)

Nicole:  I would tell Bill (Once/Twice Upon a Christmas) to lighten up. And that what's-her-face is annoying. lol

Jenni to Todd (Campus Man): Converses rock!  Way to be!

Jenni to Andrew in "Promised Land": I never really had an Indiana Jones fascination.  Now I do.  Thanks a lot.

Jenni to Doc: Stay out of the rain.  Please.
Nicole:  Cause it makes Nicole cry.  A lot.

Nicole to Andy Broom (Murder, She Wrote): Your accent is funny.

Jenni to Doc: Can I please hold the monkey?  I mean look at it!
Nicole:  Pretty please?
Jenni It's soooo cute!

Jenni to Colin (Sioux City): You look like a really pale Jesus.

Jenni to Jeff (Mother, Mother): I woulda given you the black and red teddy bear the moment you asked.

Jenni to Adam (The Perfect Weapon): Sorry you got shot.  Was kinda worried you'd die.  Glad you didn't.  So, um, yeah.  Rock on.
Yvette:  Of course, then your alter ego came back as the angel of death.
Jenni:  And, well, our Adam is way cooler.   Just saying...

Jenni to Bob (Billionaire Boys Club): If Judd Nelson approaches you about starting a business... just say no. He has crazy eyes.

Yvette:  If I met Bill from the Christmas movies, I would say 'You think your family is wacko...maybe you should meet up with mine...or maybe not'.  :D
Nicole:  And adopt half my siblings!

Yvette to Andrew: Show me how you tango.  :D  Can you really sing "Danny Boy?"
Nicole:  Andrew... can I borrow a shirt?
Yvette:  Flannel, of course.  :D
Nicole:  Of course.  And while I'm at it, how about your fedora?

One wonders what they'd say back...  Thanks, ladies, for helping with that!  Now, it seems like I often include some sort of game in Dye Day issues so I present...

Finally... a really corny birthday toast to Mr. Dye!  :-)

May your birthday be the best of the best!
May bad times and sad times Skip over you!

May you be granted your birthday request!

May fun be had by you and your awesome crew!
May ya'll ne'er be parted... like Monica and Andrew.

May you be surrounded by friends both kind and esoteric.
May you always stick by your beliefs like Doc Hock.
May you never be bothered by people like that idiot, Eric.
May your forty eighth year totally and completely rock.
May you be content as you look back and take stock.

May your life be as bright and colorful as Todd's shoes.
May you, like Jeff, appreciate the beauty of each sunset.
May you live to the fullest the life that you choose.
May you relax and, unlike Bill, not be filled with fret.
Thank you for touching our lives even though we've not met!

Happy birthday!!!
